Was Lucifer the Worship Leader of Heaven? The Father’s House Church of Stockton

You may or may not have heard this teaching but it is a very common doctrine that Lucifer was the worship leader of heaven and that he, as Satan has great influence of music.  This teaching comes from Ezekiel 28:13 which reads

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes  was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

Most that teach this expound upon the statement about the tabrets and pipes.  The word tabrets does mean something to the effect like a tambourine, something that makes a noise.  Then these teachers expound upon the word pipe, saying it was a musical instrument attaching it with the tabrets. Most people fall right in with teachings, said by someone they respect as a teacher, they assume this is correct. Yet in the word of God there is no place where Satan is said to make a musical sound or song at all, yet this is conclusively taught to be true.

God is very clear and if you hear much from me, I repeat this often.

Deuteronomy  19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

God begins in the Old Testament and continues throughout the Word, everything is established by two or three witnesses. Even two witnesses will walk the earth in the great tribulation.  I believe God holds himself to the same standard; every true doctrine has two or more passages to back it as a solid doctrine for the church.  If something is only found in one place, more than likely that is a very shaky position to take.  This position as Lucifer as the worship leader of heaven is a stretch at best and only found in traces of this passage and then only if you stretch it. So what is the answer?

Most that teach this say this was a part of Lucifer as creation; they say things were a part of him. In other words he had built in jewels and musical instruments; some even say he was musical instrument. When I first heard this teaching and looked at the passage, I felt that was a stretch and there must be more supporting evidence elsewhere.  So I did like the Berean’s, I search the scriptures to see if it was so, ITS NOT SO!

One word about the pipes.  The word that is translated pipes in many translations is actually cavity and otherwise translated at bezel, the cavity that holds all those precious stones, in no way in this passage or in any other place in the Bible is this term used to refer to a musical instrument.

The first clue in the passage is that the precious stones and tabrets were part of Lucifer’s covering, not part of him. It was a covering that could be and I believe was removed from him when he fell. So as a covering Cherub that had a garment that had precious stones on it and objects that made noise and this position was close to the presence of God, this sounds a whole lot like the garments of the high priest, Aaron.

If we look at Exodus 28:15-21 we find that part of the  high priest’s covering was a breast plate with precious stones set in it, much like what Lucifer had.

15 And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it. 16  Foursquare it shall be being doubled; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof. 17  And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. 18  And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. 19  And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. 20  And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings. 21  And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.

As we read further we find that the high priest also had something similar to tabrets on his garment, bells. Exodus was written in Hebrew as the children of Israel were free in the dessert, whiles the book of Ezekiel was written in captivity in the language of the Chaldeans then later translated back to Hebrew.  Through this language path and over a spread of several hundred years may be the difference in some of the words; inclosings compared to pipes, tabrets compared to bells.

Exodus 28:31  And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue. 32  And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent. 33  And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about: 34  A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about. 35  And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.

This passage also tells us that as the priest ministered in the Holy place he made a sound for the bells that were on his covering that he was commanded to wear in God’s presence. This is good news for the ladies that like lots of jewelry, God’s likes those that minister before him to be covered in jewels, funny enough , also with bells on. Every step the high priest took the bells rang.  Likewise when Lucifer was still ministering before the Lord, every move he made, his tabrets sounded.

We find four biblical facts with many passages to confirm and validate that the covering of Lucifer, the anointed cherub, was a covering of precious stones set in gold with some kind of noise making objects attached to it and likewise was the high priest dressed.

  1. Precious Stones set In Gold
  2. Noise making devices, tabrets or bells on the covering
  3. To be worn in the presence of God, for the presence of God
  4. Lucifer, the high priest, and cherubim are all always associated with the presence of God.

Much of the time God gives us patterns of how he operates, this covering for a cherub and the high priest appear to be one of these patterns and to have nothing to do with worship, in the music sense, at all.
